This week’s speaker is Steve Brand who’ll be talking about the Sailhaven Project.
The Sailhaven Project aim is to get people on the water – engaging and developing local skills.
They are aiming to provide sail, navigation and marine safety training, historic boat renovation and sailing experiences, in particular for disadvantaged and community groups and young people. They also operate as a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation (Community interest company), supported by volunteers, sponsors, grants and minimum charges for services.
They have a target of £7k sponsorship and are currently at £2k for their community project : A 1961 wooden yacht.
