Chamber member has the Midas Touch

Mike Shorer Fune Jewellery Torc

Chamber Member Mike Shorer has just finished an unusual commission, melting a gold necklace, bracelet and watch suite and turning it into a torc, set with a 7 carat cushion shaped, checkerboard cut Prasiolite. Technically very difficult, it took many hours to repeatedly hammer, heat, roll and stretch the gold, using a hammering technique called anticlastic raising, making the metal curve in two directions at once. The client was absolutely delighted as it fitted perfectly. The last image shows the reverse, highlighting the handmade collet.
